Kids come in all shapes and sizes. Some kids seem to come out of the womb with natural grace and athletic ability. They run before they can walk!
Other kids struggle with physical coordination and athletics. Anything they achieve in terms of physical fitness comes at a cost. They must work hard to improve.
Because trained martial artists move with grace, sometimes parents are afraid that a child who isn’t naturally athletic won’t be able to keep up in our classes.
In fact, the opposite is true.
We see it all the time. Physical coordination is a skill. It can be learned – and we see kids learn it every day. All they need is the right instruction and the right environment.
Now, that doesn’t mean that every child who studies with us becomes a martial arts master. That wouldn’t be realistic. But it doesn’t mean that the children who attend our classes leave stronger and more physically coordinated than they were when they started.
And sometimes, the change we see is amazing! It doesn’t matter if your child has two left feet or no interest in sports. Martial arts classes provide kids with meaningful, one-on-one instruction that helps them strengthen and tone their bodies. Even the most unathletic child will see improvements over time.
